A former tax inspector, author Namkoong is lauded by South Korea’s goth and fantasy obsessed teenagers for her bestselling series of young-adult horror novels.

Always appearing ‘in cameo’ on the covers, her fourth publication – roughly translating to ‘Please Keep Your Children in the Basement’ – is a story centred around recurring protagonist Nana Poppins, a prim nurserymaid from Seoul who communes with those who are not yet born.
