Near where the Celtic Sea meets the North Atlantic, roughly equidistant from the most westerly points of Ireland and Spain, a small group of rocky islands benefit from a gulf-stream microclimate providing near-equatorial temperatures for ten months of the year.
Each October, a twenty-seven day sun worshiping sonic dance festival takes place, drawing partygoers from Europe and as far afield as Iceland, North Africa and the Caribbean. With no airstrip on the islands, locals rely on a weekly helicopter service to Ireland. Though for most festival attendees, an arduous sea journey made by numerous craft of many types bringing performers and spectators alike, erecting food stalls above deck and providing cabin accommodation below.
Celeste, a matron in a Port-au-Prince hospital and a mother of four, co-founded the collective which comprises three dancers and three DJs as an act to bring entertainment to the more sprightly patients of the convalescent wards.
